What’s the deal with this blog?

Welcome to the Quad City Reporter. It’s the ongoing story of a left-handed reporter – me – out to change the world.

To answer your first inevitable question: Yes, I am a reporter and yes, I do live in the Quad-Cities on the Illinois side. A bit about me, to start. I was born and raised in Chicago – the city, not the ‘burbs – and came out to the QC area in August, 2007 to take a job as a newspaper reporter. I live in a small-but-well-kept apartment.

When I’m not working or blogging, I spend my time watching baseball, discovering new and exciting beers, watching the Food Network, thinking of new tattoos to get, cooking, eating and biking. I’m what you’d call a foodie-in-progress and a wannabe-chef. I’m a political junkie and will happily introduce anyone I meet to the brilliance of Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow.

So what can you expect to find here? Well, to put it in as few words as possible, whatever I’m thinking about when I’m not on the clock. I’ll often use this blog to reflect on work and the things I see or do at work, but you’ll also find me writing about trying a new recipe or what I ate for dinner. It’s basically a repository of all my thoughts about all the things that get me riled up enough to write.

Finally, a disclaimer. This blog is in no way associated with The Moline Dispatch and Rock Island Argus. The opinions expressed here are my own and all posts are copyright by the QC Reporter and may not be reproduced or redistributed in any fashion without my consent.

Please leave comments, trackbacks and all that good stuff. Whether you like what I’m writing or think I’m an idiot, I want to hear from you. I’m also happy to communicate with you in other ways. Feel free to follow me at http://twitter.com/billymax if you’d like. If you’d rather contact me directly, you can e-mail bmayeroff [at] gmail [dot] com or send an instant message via AIM to Soxfanbill. You should probably e-mail me before you do that because I tend to reject messages from people I don’t know.

Welcome to my world. Have fun in it.
